La Vieille Tuilerie (literally, The Old Tileworks or Brickworks – named after the road the house lies on, itself named after the old village industry) is a luxury property that won’t disappoint!
House & Garden
And here is a bit about why we love the house! We’ve lived in this house since September 2010. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it! The over-riding wow factor here is the property’s volumes – 3m ceilings and big rooms! The house was actually built in the 50’s, to a symmetrical Maison de Maître style, with the addition of some Victorian-style features (such as the wonderfully-crafted bespoke wooden radiator covers and the wainscoting), so we’ve worked with that to give the house character and individuality. When we moved in, it had everything we were looking for: huge private, secure garden, big pool, lots of bedrooms, downstairs loo! The only problem was, it was all last decorated in the 70’s or 80’s!! Once we had de-artexed everywhere, put a new Schmidt kitchen in and replaced all the old brown floor tiles, it started to feel like home.
As with any family home, it’s a continuous journey and we make improvements every year, albeit smaller ones now! So here we are seven years later and the house has been brought up-to-date, with ongoing touching up and maintenance. We are constantly working on improvements (last year we had all the upstairs ceilings repainted and renovated the eating terrace and barbecue, this year already (early 2017) we’ve improved the driveway entrance from the road from a grill to a cement version and updated some electrics, as well as creating a better turning angle in the drive so multiple cars can be parked more easily). Since the season ended we’ve emptied and re-tiled the pool and we’re currently retiling the downstairs en-suite shower and have plans to update the porch at the front of the house. Follow our journey of updates and improvements on our facebook page La Vieille Tuilerie
Lovely 3 metre high ceilings and bountiful 2 metre wide windows at La Vieille Tuilerie make this space feel so light and airy.
We have two large, comfy sofas, big coffee table, widescreen TV, DVD, Sky TV box. The Sanderson Dandelion fabric of the professionally hand-made curtains is followed through with the sofa cushions.
You can access the barbecue terrace through the kitchen’s French doors. There is a doorway from the kitchen to the hall and also from the living area to the hall. The whole flow of the ground floor is practical and adds to the easygoing feeling the house exudes.
The modern Schmidt kitchen has a 1.5 sink, shower tap could not do without this now!), 5-ring gas hob, separate electric oven, combi microwave/second oven, 4-slice Dualit toaster, Dolce Gusto coffee machine, plunger coffee pot, plenty of storage and lots of pots, pans, serving dishes, utensils, kitchen tools, crockery and cutlery.

A beautiful room on the ground floor, comfortable bed with wardrobe, two chests of drawers, chair, fan and an en-suite shower room with large shower tray, wc and handbasin.
